Double-Double
A double-double is a performance with at least 10 in two major statistical categories.
Plain definition
A double-double most often combines points and rebounds or points and assists. The qualifying categories are generally points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. The player reaches double figures in two of them during the same game, showing substantial output in more than one area.
Why it matters
A double-double highlights a player's volume and versatility, especially when the contribution extends beyond scoring. It remains a simple milestone and should not replace a closer assessment of efficiency, minutes or game context.
Practical example
A centre finishes with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Reaching at least 10 in two major categories produces a double-double.
